Operation hotelroom 4

My collection of teapots is growing and growing. I found some new antique pieces (yessss, with golden details!) in some cabinet yesterday while cleaning and rearranging the house.





And if you've got a collection you treasure, why not displaying them? Why not arranging them on a place so you can always look at it? I'm afraid I'll soon have to find a second solution to store them, because the shelf seems to become a little small for a steadily growing collection.

But this is me. This is what I like.. I bet you won't find a collection of teapots in a dull hotel-room.

Operation hotelroom 3

Having holidays means being away a lot. Most of the time it concerns doing things which I enjoy a lot, but it does mean that posting comes second.
However, being away also brings me new inspiration and new reasons to post things here. This morning I found out that making a bedroom of my 'hotelroom' partly comes with time.



I have got this headboard which is made to put things on. However, I didn't have more on it than just the alarm clock and that brown candle. Why not? I haven't got the foggiest.



My mum gave me these postcards. They represent my two favourite cities. Paris and Stockholm..



Two little presents I got. It's true, the little Norev car is perfect. Sizes are the same, details are well done, and I like the fact that the varnish is already damaged before unpacking the toy. Makes 'em even more realistic! Hello, it's an oldtimer?! :)

Operation hotelroom 2

I ordered pictures I took in Sweden. People nowadays all have a digital camera. -So do I-
However, I still prefer my pictures being printed out in quality. Just because I want to be able to touch my pictures, to take them with me in my diary or to put them in frames.

Besides that, I still had some picture frame rails in my room somewhere, which I took off while repainting my room. I didn't put it back, because I thought it looked stupid. I changed my mind..





I found some old frames at home, and I bought a few new ones.

Funny, how all images show water.. Apparently I love water.

It's only a slight change in my room, but it already looks so much more like a bedroom than a hotel room. This is only my first attempt. I am sure that after a week, my room looks so much nicer and cozier.

Operation hotelroom

Most of you probably have seen my extreme room makeover. If not, I've posted it here.
Now, I do like my room, and things have slightly changed already, but somehow, it feels so much like an hotelroom. There are some personal objects in it, but somehow it doesn't seem to be MY room, but A room.
So.. I decided to set up 'Operation Hotelroom', to change A room into MY room. I just wanted to tell you guys, so you know what keeps me busy lately. Holidays always want to make me change things in my life that don't seem to suit me.

Extreme room makeover

When my mum and I moved house, we wanted to go in our new house as soon as possible. The consequence was that none of the rooms were refurbished yet. In my room, there was some sort of ugly blue-greyish carpet, covered in brown dirt-marks which couldn't be removed in any way. The walls were covered with horrible structured wallpaper. After painting this wallpaper, it still looked as ugly and dirty as before. And I got sick and tired of this 'pig-sty'..

First, I removed all of the wallpaper. Unfortunately, the walls inside our house are made of drywall, so when I scratched off that wallpaper, huge pieces of drywall came with it. After that I removed the carpet.
My aunty has placed the new floor, and I filled up every hole in the wall, smoothed it, filled up again, smoothed it and then painted it with structure paint.
I came to the conclusion that 1. drywall is annoying if you want to remove wallpaper, since you can't remove it with water. 2. drywall is crap because it can't carry heavy things such as shelves. 3. It takes ages to apply structure paint, since it's so thick. However, it was fun to do.
How much I love my room now!
